Leading into 2025, together with Sail Canada, we will compete in training camps within Canada, and internationally. Focusing on targeted world cup events to build up to the 2025 World Championships in late October.
Thomas and William have been sailing together from early childhood. At 13 years old the partnership was made official starting out in the 29er class. They had great success in junior classes being 2x national champions for those under 18. Having moved into the senior world in the 49er class, they have their sights set on success at the Olympic games.
The team is competing in the 49er class, it is the men’s skiff in the Olympic Games.
Designed by Julian Bethwaite in the late ’90s, it is 4.99 meters long hence the name (49er). There are two positions on the boat, the skipper who drives the boat and the crew who controls the sail trim.
Being at the leading edge of technology, the boat is extremely powerful and physical, requiring large amounts of athleticism from both team members.
